Though Paul Ryan sounds very sincere in his intentions to cut the debt what is not be talked about is all the spending.
We all need to learn to understand politicianese. When they talk about cutting they are never talking about less than now. They’re talking about less than they wanted. If right now they’re spending a billion dollars but they want to spend a trillion dollars then they consider a budget of 500 billion dollars as a cut.
Right now Paul Ryan and others are talking about a 6 trillion dollar cut over the next 10 years and that sounds really great. It’s certainly better than a sharp stick in the eye, but in the light of what is shaping up to be approximately 45 trillion dollars in spending over the same period of time it is clear they’re not going to fix anything at all with what they are proposing. In fact it does not even seem that they are really cutting the rate of growth.
If we don't do something to stop all the madness going on in Washington our nation is going to be so far in debt that all we'll be able to do is declare bankruptcy. Is this really what we want for our country.
Living within our means is not extreme, it's reality. I go so weary of all the talk of throwing old people "under the bus" or children not getting to eat, or old people not getting their medicine.
Even the republicans seem to feel it is the job of the federal government and by extension the American people to be forced to take care of other people in their old age. Would I want that for myself? Of course. Wouldn't we all want a free ride and be able ti live like we were independently wealthly, which is really what's being proposed, but the reality is that just can't happpen.
None of our politicians have the will to speak the truth. They all want to promise at the world at our expense, even if we can't afford it. The republicans are almost as socialistic as the democrats. They genuinely believe that all these different things are the responsiblity of the government. At least according to the constitution they are not the federal government's reponsiblity.
I'm sure there are many people out there that have come to depend on the government dole, but that doesn't mean it should continue. Just because you make people dependent on something and know that removing it will cause a great deal of stress still doens't mean that you should keep it going. At some point we need to get back to what the founding fathers envisioned for our nation. If we don't learn this lesson soon our nation will be so broke and there will be such a lack of jobs that everyone will be going without. Of course they will still blame the RICH for this even though the blame lies squarely with a government that can't stop spending OUR money even before we've earned it.
Our leaders are already starting to show signs of turning on the people they are supposed to serve. This to my knowledge has never happened before. There have been many cases now of our representing being extremely disrepectful of those they are meeting with at town halls. They take the attitude of, "how dare you question me about this." It is as though they don't think they answer to us. Maybe they don't, but they certainly are supposed to answer to us and if we don't start demanding it soon it will be we that are answering to them. Do we really want this reversal of positions between the people and the government? This is what they call totalitarian government.
We have leaders accusing other leaders of listening to the Tea Party. What this really means is that they're criticizing those representatives for listening to the people. After all most of our representatives seem to feel they should only listening to unions and special interest groups and of course lobbyists. If you're not in some special class of people then you certainly don't understand things well enough to be telling your representatives what you want from them. It is an ongoing attitude that we the people are too stupid to govern ourselves or to tell our representatives what is best for us. It is this kind of thinking that always leads to totalitarian governments and ultimately to a people who have little or no rights. Certainly a people that who have no rights but the ones that the leaders in the government determine they should have and of course that can change at the whim of the leaders or as quickly as they change.
It is this lack of understanding of what rights actually are that is bring out this situation which sooner or later will prove to put the people in a place of desparation. Do we really want that?
We need to keep it clearly in our minds and demand clearly from our leaders the actual numbers of what they're looking at spending as well as what they're "cutting". We need to know what they spend last year and how much they want to spend this year. If they want to spend more this year than last year then it should not be called a cut at all. Enough with the games and the double speak that our representatives have made into such an artform. We need to demand the same of the media. They need to start giving us the real facts not the stuff they want us to hear because they are as much socialists and communists as our leaders.
I believe Fox News has been as big as it has because they have been willing to tell both sides. I still feel they are lacking something because they are still not quite as interested in the the truth as they are in just telling both sides. They do not really seem to care so much about the truth. Just let both sides have their say, but don't actually do any real investigation to find out who is telling the truth. O'Keefe and the woman he's working with to expose such groups as ACORN and Planned Parenthood are probably the closest we've come to really investigative reporting of any group in more than 20 years.
Why are our leaders spending so much of our money on groups like these when they so strongly oppose things that we stand for. Why are we letting them get away with this? This is our money and we should not be willing to let these dishonest organizations spend our money for such things as abortions and certainly non-profit organizations who get their money from the government should not be allowed to funnel that money right back into the campaigns of those who are going to continue to funnel them more money. This is nothing short of money laundering and graft, and it needs to come to an end as soon as possible.
The way this budget is being treated is more like a joke than anything else. We are being told this is a huge cut, but There isn't any mention of what was cut, only what was not cut. It makes you really wonder then what is really going on. Even Fox News has not reported on what's in the bill only the amount. As is typical of the media they do not believe the particulars are important to the little people and that we don't really need to know what they are.
I believe the particulars are at least as important as the general items. After all if all the cutting was on things like military, then it would be more concerning than if it involved cuts to things like Obamacare and other social programs the government has no business being involved with. We really need to get back to what is important. We need to ask ourselves what things the federal government ought to be doing constitutionally. Then if we determine the things it's doing are not in the constitution those things ought to be considered for complete cuts from the budget after all they have no constitutional authority to be doing those things. Just because they've been doing something unconstitutional for a very long time doesn't mean we should allow them to continue those things anymore. Doing the wrong thing for a very long time does not make that thing any more right than it was when it was new and wrong.
Consider the following fact, In the seven days preceding last night's deal, our nation's debt increased by $54.1 billion. And now our 'leaders' are touting as 'historic' the $38.5 billion in spending cuts for the rest of fiscal year 2011, (http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/04/10/tea-party-conservatives-conflicted-budget-deal/#ixzz1JBMb6LHe)
This is the kind of insanity I'm addressing. The rea Party is right not to be satisfied with this outcome. They have not even made the smallest dent in the real problem and yet they would have us believe they've done something historic. What is really historic at this point is the rate of the growth of the government and the growth of our national debt. Understand the above number of 54.1 billion is not the amount spent, it is the amount of new debt. That was money we had to borrow just so we (by we I mean the government) can offer some wonderful and "free" to the people because the loafers have such great need.
The Elitists in Washington would have you believe the problem is those ne'er do wells, the rich who aren't doing their fair share. We certainly can't hold loafers, people who've spend 2 years on unemployment or 5-10 years on welfare responsible for not doing their part in society. After all you don't want to kick poor people out on the street, and don't the rest of us have a responsibility to the "needy" whether we want to do it or not?
It would seem if it's for low income, homeless, needy or old people then we have to keep it, but if it's for the military then we should definitely keep it at least as an option. Think about that for just one moment. One of the main jobs of the federal government is the defense of the country, hence the military!
The way the debt ceiling is yet another absurdity. It is no different than a family saying we've already run the credit cards up to the max with wild spending. We now have credit card bills of 50,000 dollars and we're spending 10,000 a year more than we're making, so we need to raise our credit card limit by another 30,000 or we won't be able to keep buying all the the things we can't afford. In any other venue this would be considered absurd and unreasonable. Any debt counselor would advsd them how to cut back on their expenses so not only were they living within their means but were even able to pay down the huge debt they'd already built up.
No it can certainly be understood that the debt of a house it at least somewhat necessary and so that one is justified, but what of all the other debt? If you're having to buy food on your credit card, as I once did eventually it's going to catch up with you unless you turn things around, get a job so you're able to pay your own bills and then some.
On The Hill's website, they had the following to say, ""This deal cuts spending by $78.5 billion from the President’s FY 2011 Budget request." That last word is essential and goes back to what has been said earlier. They are no actually cutting back on the rate of current spending. What is happening is that they're going to cut back on the amount of money being requested for the new budget and for a new year of spending. This does not in anyway effect past spending, nor does it effect the rate of past spending. Those rates are still in place and as such we can expect to see the deficit continue to rise all the while the republicans get to look like the good guys for a little while buy "cutting". What they're doing is cutting back on the new enlargements of government propose going forward. It is the same game that's been played for years even down to the good cop bad cop deal where both people really want the same thing they are merely using different though cooperative methods to achieve those ends.
After listing the cuts specifically they then go on to say, "robust investment to efficiently and effectively run Medicare and to implement the Affordable Care Act." What does ROBUST mean? And you have to love the new euphemism now being used in place of the word spending... INVESTMENT, and of all things this is to implement Obamacare IMMEDIATELY, even though it hasn't been found to be constitutional. The hope is that if they get enough of it in place there is no way the courts will deem it unconstitutional because of yet another constitutional crisis.
This is yet one more instance of the republicans not doing anything to stop it though they make a show of trying to repeal it. They know that is not going anywhere, at least till Obama is out so they are more than free to make a big show of trying to get rid of it, but they know this will never happen. How many times do we have to see this game played out before we understand what is really going on?
Now it turns out after all the blather that the actual cuts are only going to amount to less than 1/2 a billion dollars. This means that it went from the original of 100 billion (still less than 1/10th of the total spending for this year alone) to 60 billion to 38 billion and now it is less than 1/2 a billion. this means that the cuts are actually equal to less than .5% of just this year's spending and they want us to think they're serious. WHAT A JOKE!
What the republicans have shown us is that they are literally no better than the democrats. They passed this bill and have tried to spin it as a huge cut in spending but it turns out that it is a ridiculous joke where spending cuts are concerned. We are looking at 1.5 trillion dollars in spending this year and their real cuts are only 350 million dollars. This is equal to 1/4500th of the total budget. Think of it, if you made were spending 45,000 a year and you came hold and told your wife you were going to cut that back by $4.00. This would be considered the very definition of insane! This is what Boehner wants us to beleive is a victory. This is NONSENSE!
It is for this reason that I've said the republicans are no better than the democrats. We should have known this was a bad deal just because the republicans hardly got slammed by the liberal media at all and now it turns our that though they need support for it to pass from the democrats they have more than enough democrats on-board over it.
The next major issue to be taken up by congress is going to be the debt ceiling. On this the republicans will have no problem finding support from the democratic tax and spenders and so the small group of Tea Party freshmen will again be shoved aside for the sake of the congressional elite.
Though the democrats saw their opportunity to finally create an unrecoverable crisis in our country and bring it down the republicans are going to make sure they finish the job all with the support of the people. I would like to say that our leaders don't have a clue about what it is they are destroying but they certainly do. The communists, socialist, and Marxists have long known that the United States has been the one lone nation that has prevented them from their goals to more or less take over the world.
We are at this point committed far beyond our capacity to pay back the debts we are incurring and Obama not only doesn't care but continues to drive as much spending as he can control. I believe very firmly it was for this reason that he decided to get us involved in Libya. He knew in getting us involved just how expensive a war can be.
We have completely lost track of what wars are about. We want to believe they are about helping others. Though in rare circumstances this has been the case in most cases wars are either about expanding your own borders or fending of an attack against yourself from some nation that is trying to expand its own boarders. In either case they should not be about trying to nation build, nor should they be about trying to make others countries more like us. Wars are great tragedies and there is no doubt of this and for this reason when you have to fight one you should fight it to win defeat your enemy utterly and then get out. We are far too concerned about hurting people when we are invovled in war. I thought this was the whole purpose of war.
