Presidential Power Grabs

We have a president who is grabbing all the power he can for the executive branch through executive orders and sadly we have a congress that is letting him do this. This is happening because both the congress and the president no longer care about the constitution.

We watch as item after item from the constitution and the declaration of independence is ignored or ridiculed and no one stands up for it. We watch as the executive branch and the judicial branch make the congress inconsequential and still the congress does nothing and says nothing about it. They seem to be fine with being emasculated by the other two branches. It is almost impossible to consider if this isn't by design and consent.

The president says no drilling and the congress let's him when they could override his decision. The president has the EPA declaring all kinds of regulations which carry the weight of law even though no law from any elected official has been passed and still the congress says and does nothing. Is there any chance that our congress people will actually grow spines and do what they can to stop this madness? Is there any chance that we will vote into office those who revere the constitution and truly understand the value of the document as it was handed down to us.

We have far too many critics of the constitution in congress and these are the last people who should be criticizing the constitution. The active and verbal way they go after the constitution ought to concern the American people very deeply.

Little by little the nation is filling up with socialists and communists or at least people who do not understand just how seriously opposed these philosophies are to the constitution. all of these things are deeply opposed to the document that has been responsible for the most powerful and most free nation on earth, yet we have a nation of people apologizing for it and declaring that it is out of date and no longer valid.

They behave as though the constitution or the founding fathers really wanted a massive government. They behave as though the founders were either working for or at least hoping for the day when we would have things like social security, and universal health care. They believe the founders were to stupid to understand that only a federal government could do these things and that it would take the federal government to enforce them. Even though it was quite clear to our founders that the federal government needed to be only so big as it needed to be to do the things it was set up to do specifically listed in the constitution and nothing more.

I'm not sure which representative may have said it, but at least one or more has said that a law needs to be passed where representatives would be required to site what in the constitution authorized them to do anything new they wanted to do.

If they don't like what the constitution says then they need to change through the process required by the constitution, not merely ignore it and the protections it puts forth for the people.

Our congress has forgotten, quite conveniently that our founders want this to be a land of equal rights, equal justice, and equal protection under the law and as such they constantly pass laws which always have something in them to exempt them from the very laws they pass on the rest of us. This is not equal justice and this was never meant to be the case. They now seem to believe in social justice instead of equal justice and the two are definitely not the same thing.

These things are a great evil in our land and are just the sort of thing our founders realized either led to a tyranny or at least were a sign that we were heading toward a tyranny. Why can't we face the reality this is happening all the time and that something needs to be done?

Why do we have such a hard time getting rid of those in congress. Some people say that we need term limits. How about responsible voting. We need to simply vote those out that aren't doing a GREAT job. It should not be enough that, "They haven't done that much harm!" They need to demonstrate they've been exceptional. There are plenty of others that want their job and likely could and would do a better job than them. We do not need to keep voting these people in for 30-40 years at a time.

Not one of them has done such an exceptional job that they need to be voted back again. Even among the current freshmen we are not seeing a lot of activity in the ways they promised. We have a do nothing congress both in the House and the Senate. At this point they haven't been trying to do anything but duck and cover and do nothing.

Nothing is not what we need right now. We don't need the wrong thing either. some in congress behave as though we ought to reward them for "trying", but this is the same mentality as the self esteem people demonstrate toward mediocre students in our public schools. These people do not deserve the "A's" they would like us to believe they deserve. What they deserve is to be kicked out of office and replaced by people of real value, real character, and real ability.

The Charge of Racism

It would seem the definition has been conveniently forgotten when it comes to the democrat representatives. To them anyone who even disagrees with any stance of a black person is racist. I guess they forget that racism is the act of defining an entire group of people by the actions of a few.

Now ask yourself who is actually doing this. Saying you think Obama is a dope is not in anyway defining an entire group of people. It is addressing HIM!

But when Obama defines all republicans as doing something because of race, then who really is the racist! When the democrat representatives do this, as they are always the ones to declare racism first, are they not defining an entire group of people by the actions of a few, or in some cases by the actions or words of no one. They are simply making most of this up out of thin air.

Now I'm sure some would immediately jump on the above words as pointing out that I am racist because I am now saying this of the democrats (a group of people in general) so let me just remind you of one thing. When was the last time you ever heard the republicans of any group including the republicans declare that democrats are racists. They let the democrats have the high ground all the time by launching their attacks and accusations first and then just play defense.

The purpose of this particular blog is to say that the democrats need to get off their focus on race. If there is racism anywhere it is probably on their side as they are the ones who see everything through the lens of black, white, Hispanic and always in a combative way, and they are usually the ones stirring up this combativeness.

Is everyone else as tired of hearing the haughty attitudes being thrown around about race. You'd think the democrats had a lock on anti racism. I guess they forget that they were the ones opposed to MLK... maybe they're repentant but they behave as though they were the ones that did away with racism. On top of that it is the democratic party that continues to do everything they can to lock minorities into the poverty mentality. Anyone who has ever been on welfare or food stamps knows what an addiction it becomes. It is set up in such a way as to take extreme fortitude on the part of those accepting it to get off it.

Further they are more than willing to be generous with OUR money in the name of their "charitable" sensitivities. It is not charity to take what others have worked for and give it to the poor, at least not on the part of the takers.

Consider the constant no win situations the democrats use. A perfect example of this is what Romney did this last week. He gave a black woman charity out of his own pocket. Now consider for a moment. If he didn't give it he'd be a racist because he wouldn't give money to a black woman, since he did give it he's a racist because he's showing her how much she needs a white man. It's ridiculous, but this is the way it gets spun all the time.

The media is even worse at this than the representatives. It was not a representative that said this of Romney. This was pure media spin. They are determined to everything they can to help Obama. It is clear with how early it's starting that the race card is going to be played a lot this year.

I only wish the black community would stop buying into. The democrats have done very little for them.

You only need to consider that the democrats have been in control of the house and the senate for most of the last 30+ years and yet almost nothing has changed. Now I'm sure they will say that is only because they need yet more of OUR money before the situation will finally be resolved.

It is not so much that racism has to stop any more, but what needs to stop is the constant focus by the democrats on race as though everything comes down to that. They can't possibly imagine that the issue of illegal immigration has to do with the illegal part of it and not the Hispanic part of it. They can't conceive that anyone would object to Obama because of his policies and wild power grabbing actions as president. But then it is fine for them to condemn all the black people they want if they're republicans who are seeking to be on the Supreme Court, or if they are looking to be a governor, senator or representative.

What seems the most true is that the democrats only want certain kinds of minorities in their corner. If anyone demonstrates the plantation mentality it is the democrats, so much so that even Maxine Waters mentioned that she was getting tired of it. She realizes that Obama has done nothing for HIS people. Of course just by saying something like this indicates that she thinks that people should not be treated either equally or fairly, they should, apparently in her mind be treated differently based on their race or ethnicity.

Demand better of your representatives or kick their butts out of office we don't need these divisive people leading our nation. They are already causing far too much damage as it is.

A Nation at the Precipice

We are already at it again regarding the debt. It seems they just can’t stop raising the limit and then spending to them maximum of that limit as quickly as they can. Now the president is asking for another 1.2 trillion dollars and there is little or no talk that anyone is going to fight it. It seems that Republicans have already determined to just give in to it which can only have one end.

We already owe more than the total GDP of the nation and yet our president is determined to keep pushing it as much as he can. He seems determined to push us over the cliff before he can be forced out of office. Sadly Republicans are more than happy to let him as long as they can blame it on the president. This shows they don’t really care about the country so much as they care about getting back in power. They understand no economic downturn is going to seriously hurt them as individuals and as such they are only interested in being the ones in power when it happens. At that point they will practice the same blame game that Obama has been engaged in for the last 3 years. I can’t help but wonder if Obama won’t start in blaming Bush again during the next election. You would think he’d know this won’t wash, but as an organizer and agitator he doesn’t know anything but class warfare, racism and blame.

Our leaders are so completely out of touch at this point it is frightening and they seem to have no interest in the real needs of the people, only getting in power. Everyone is concerned that Obama is going to win again, but as long as no one votes for him then there is little chance he will get back in office no matter who else is running. What is important and what many people are missing at this point is that what is important is what the person who wins will do. The question is not who is in power? The question is what they will do with that power? Will they really try to turn the nation around or will they just slow down the damage but keep heading in that direction?

It certainly seems the republicans have no desire to change direction only speed. This is at least as scary a possibility as that of Obama being elected president again. We are heading off a cliff and they are both arguing over speed limits. I think we all keep hoping someone is going to come along that really excites the American people, instead the best we have is who we don’t like the least.

Our leaders feel no fealty to their oath to the constitution. They have no sense of honor. They understand accept and even thrive in the fact that the people expect them to lie, be dishonorable, self serving and even sexual perverts, as long as they don’t proclaim it too loudly.

It is most certainly true that the republicans are as incapable of standing against spending as the democrats are. They equally seem as antagonistic toward business as the democrats. Though this does not show in their words it most certainly shows in their actions and their voting. We only need to look at any attempts at debt reduction. Even when ONE man, Paul Ryan offered what was admitted to be a good plan still the republicans could not bring themselves to get behind it because they might take criticism from the democrats for “wanting to throw grandma off a cliff.” They are simply not able to show any leadership. At least the democrats admit openly that they want the government to  provide everything at the expense of taking everything they can from the people so they can give it back. The republicans on the other hand say they are for fiscal responsibility but have not presented a single workable plan for reaching that responsible spending. Instead they just keep raising the debt ceiling and demanding that the American people foot the bill whether they want to or not. Their reasoning seems to be that we must want whatever they want since we voted them into office.

What this should say to us is that the only way we can send the message that we want them to get the spending under control is to start voting every one of them out of office at every opportunity we get whether they do something good for their district or not. What they do for their districts at this stage should be completely unimportant. This is about saving our nation. Either the people we have in office don’t get it or they don’t care. In either case we need to get rid of them.

If the American people don’t wake up to the fact that our nation is in genuine danger of total collapse and be willing to make the hard decisions then collapse is what we will have. Many think that so many things are broken that they’re willing to risk collapse thinking anything that came out of it would have to be better, but history makes it very clear that this is almost never the case.

Equally how could anyone possibly believe Obama when he says he wants to take on big government and that it’s got to change at the same time he’s asking for another 1.5 trillion dollars to spend. Oh I know he justifies it because, gee, we have to have that money to keep things running till we can cut back, but where are the real cut? Where has one dime of real spending been cut? I don’t know of a single politician that can actually point to any real cuts in spending.

Sometimes I wonder at the stupidity of the American people who are more willing to believe the words of politicians than their actions. It is simply insane to think that if they haven’t done it before that they’re going to start if you give them one more chance. They have not shown a propensity to do that a single time so it would make far more sense to just vote them out of office. Will we actually do that? Somehow I doubt that we will. As I mentioned we do not seem to have the will to do the hard things any more than our leaders do and it is likely this is the reason they are also disinclined to make the changes that need to be made.

I know that even I have tended to lay the bulk of the blame on our leaders but the reality is that in all likelihood most of the blame falls on the people for blindly voting these people back in office over and over and by doing so telling them to keep doing the same things they’ve been doing all along. I only hope we will wake up and stop the madness before our nation is destroyed beyond repair!

In Contempt of the Constitution

Today Obama did something that is unprecedented in our history. It seems presidents have been pressing for more and more power as is the nature of men. Our founding fathers understood this and so put checks and balances in the way to prevent any branch from grabbing too much power.

What he did was what he called a “recess appointment” though in reality congress wasn’t in recess. This is yet one more thing demonstrating Obama’s contempt for the constitution. Congress was not in recess, they simply weren’t there for ONE day. To Obama this was as much as he needed.

The reason Obama gave for this is about as weak as they come. A White House spokesman said, “The White

House countered by arguing Obama circumvented Congress only after senators stonewalled the nominee for months” So if you think about it what they’re saying is that if Obama doesn’t like the decisions of congress he has a right to circumvent them or simply ignore them. He’s also implying that congress should just fall in line. No matter what the reason for them denying the confirmation of this man doesn’t really matter. They still need to give their consent or the person doesn’t get appointed. Obama could see there was no recess any time soon and so decided to use the one day off the congress was taking and simply declare it a recess himself so that he could appoint someone the congress not only wouldn’t confirm but voted against.

Obama seems to have shown on a regular basis his contempt for the constitution and his desire to ignore it as an irrelevant or at the very least and out of date document. He seems to hold a great deal of distain for American history and for the founding principles of our nation. He has said as much on several occasions. Though I know not even FOX News wants to call him what he is, at this point there is less and less doubt that he is either a communist or a socialist, both of which are only slightly different shades of the same color.

Once again we have a spineless congress who are willing to take no more action on this than to use it as a news and campaigning issue, but not willing to confront Obama in some legal or concrete way on the way he’s trashing the constitution.

I find it amazing that the media puts some qualification on what the recess appointments in the constitution are about.

Article 2, Section 2 of the Constitution states:

He shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur; and he shall nominate, and by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, shall appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, Judges of the supreme Court, and all other Officers of the United States, whose Appointments are not herein otherwise provided for, and which shall be established by Law: but the Congress may by Law  vest the Appointment of such inferior Officers, as they think proper, in the President alone, in the Courts of Law, or in the Heads of Departments.

The President shall have Power to fill up all Vacancies that may happen during the Recess of the Senate, by granting Commissions which shall expire at the End of their next Session.

This section is quite clear on the appointments of the president. It say only if the vacancy occurs during the recess of congress. Well this vacancy occurred before the recess of congress and there was also no recess. This is clearly a constitutional violation.

I would also ask, "Why is it that none of the appointments ever expire. They are only meant to be temporary and congress still has to give their consent, or maybe it's just considered consent because they don't demand they step down or at least vote on them. To me this is a big thing, but again congress is falling down on the job of keeping the executive branch in check.

This is not something congress should just let go of, neither is it something they should just gripe about on the evening news as though that will make any difference or mean anything to the president. In this respect he has a very Islamic view seeing this behavior as only weakness giving him license to do yet more of the same.

It is little wonder that Congress is held in such low regard by the people. The congress shows contempt both for the people as a whole, though they butter up their own constituents, and for the constitution they have sword to uphold and defend. This is a very serious issue and we need to do something about it.

It is more important now than ever that we vote out every member of congress who is falling down on the job! We need to stop thinking it is everyone else's congressman that is falling down on the job and recognize that it is probably ours as well.

Ask yourself, "What has your congressman done for the nation as a whole that you are so excited about that you want to give them another 6 years?"

If you can't think of something then it is probably time you voted that person out. I for one cannot think of anything either Dianne Feinstein or Barbara Boxer has done that we shoudl vote either of them back in office, yet Californians continue to do just that.
