Presidential Power Grabs

We have a president who is grabbing all the power he can for the executive branch through executive orders and sadly we have a congress that is letting him do this. This is happening because both the congress and the president no longer care about the constitution.

We watch as item after item from the constitution and the declaration of independence is ignored or ridiculed and no one stands up for it. We watch as the executive branch and the judicial branch make the congress inconsequential and still the congress does nothing and says nothing about it. They seem to be fine with being emasculated by the other two branches. It is almost impossible to consider if this isn't by design and consent.

The president says no drilling and the congress let's him when they could override his decision. The president has the EPA declaring all kinds of regulations which carry the weight of law even though no law from any elected official has been passed and still the congress says and does nothing. Is there any chance that our congress people will actually grow spines and do what they can to stop this madness? Is there any chance that we will vote into office those who revere the constitution and truly understand the value of the document as it was handed down to us.

We have far too many critics of the constitution in congress and these are the last people who should be criticizing the constitution. The active and verbal way they go after the constitution ought to concern the American people very deeply.

Little by little the nation is filling up with socialists and communists or at least people who do not understand just how seriously opposed these philosophies are to the constitution. all of these things are deeply opposed to the document that has been responsible for the most powerful and most free nation on earth, yet we have a nation of people apologizing for it and declaring that it is out of date and no longer valid.

They behave as though the constitution or the founding fathers really wanted a massive government. They behave as though the founders were either working for or at least hoping for the day when we would have things like social security, and universal health care. They believe the founders were to stupid to understand that only a federal government could do these things and that it would take the federal government to enforce them. Even though it was quite clear to our founders that the federal government needed to be only so big as it needed to be to do the things it was set up to do specifically listed in the constitution and nothing more.

I'm not sure which representative may have said it, but at least one or more has said that a law needs to be passed where representatives would be required to site what in the constitution authorized them to do anything new they wanted to do.

If they don't like what the constitution says then they need to change through the process required by the constitution, not merely ignore it and the protections it puts forth for the people.

Our congress has forgotten, quite conveniently that our founders want this to be a land of equal rights, equal justice, and equal protection under the law and as such they constantly pass laws which always have something in them to exempt them from the very laws they pass on the rest of us. This is not equal justice and this was never meant to be the case. They now seem to believe in social justice instead of equal justice and the two are definitely not the same thing.

These things are a great evil in our land and are just the sort of thing our founders realized either led to a tyranny or at least were a sign that we were heading toward a tyranny. Why can't we face the reality this is happening all the time and that something needs to be done?

Why do we have such a hard time getting rid of those in congress. Some people say that we need term limits. How about responsible voting. We need to simply vote those out that aren't doing a GREAT job. It should not be enough that, "They haven't done that much harm!" They need to demonstrate they've been exceptional. There are plenty of others that want their job and likely could and would do a better job than them. We do not need to keep voting these people in for 30-40 years at a time.

Not one of them has done such an exceptional job that they need to be voted back again. Even among the current freshmen we are not seeing a lot of activity in the ways they promised. We have a do nothing congress both in the House and the Senate. At this point they haven't been trying to do anything but duck and cover and do nothing.

Nothing is not what we need right now. We don't need the wrong thing either. some in congress behave as though we ought to reward them for "trying", but this is the same mentality as the self esteem people demonstrate toward mediocre students in our public schools. These people do not deserve the "A's" they would like us to believe they deserve. What they deserve is to be kicked out of office and replaced by people of real value, real character, and real ability.
