You have to admit after a while some of these things do seem
like they were planned to fail. When McCain was running against a complete
unknown Obama, he made nothing of his past, he made nothing of his socialism, he
must have had people that knew and had the goods, he made nothing of Obama’s
complete lack of experience or any other record. There was apparently no
research into Obama’s book “Dreams from My Father”, which apparently have all
kinds of fabrications in it. He stumbled his way into losing the election
almost like it was planned.
I couldn’t help but wonder if such things might not begin
with Romney. First he got picked and was crowned the presumptive nominee by
everyone including Fox News before the voting even began. They seemed to ignore
the real trouble spots, even though they knew they were there. They were only
too aware of Romney Care and the problems that would present. Every time there
is some advantage to be had I can’t help but think that Romney will do something
to throw it away. Now we have him siding with team Obama on the issue of whether
the mandate is a tax or a penalty. Romney has come down on the side of it being
a penalty.
Consider for a moment the implications of this. First it
means that he can’t say that Obama has raised taxes which would have been a big
advantage in the race, but he completely cut the legs out from under himself on
that one. This also means in the future it will be harder to overturn or get
rid of Obamacare. As long as it’s a tax all they have need is 51 votes in the
Senate to overturn the tax and thus cripple the law, but if he says it’s not a
tax then the full law must be repealed.
You have to wonder if Romney actually does want to get rid
of Obamacare. We all know that he supported something very similar in Mass.,
and that he continued to defend it through much of his primary campaign.
So as I said I can’t help but wonder if this is not the
beginning of more planned “blunders” to come. As I mentioned before, every time
Hillary Clinton got ahead there was some blunder on her part that made it
impossible for her to address the Obama issues, or she refused to use things
she clearly had. The same was true of McCain. Now it looks like Romney is going
to follow in their footsteps and I can’t help but wonder if they will not pop
up every time his lead starts looking too substantial. This has been the
pattern before and it’s beginning to seem that it’s a pattern by design not by
accident.
If Romney doesn’t know enough to stick with the winning side
of the issue which is taxes then will he really be able to discern the best
strategy in dealing with other real enemies of the United States. Yes I said
other, because so far Obama seems to be doing everything he can to bring this
nation to its knees financially, militarily, politically, and internationally.
He has diminished the United States in every one of these areas since his term
began.
It will be interesting to see how they try to spin this
ridiculous strategy. I’m sure no matter what way they spin it, it will come out
sounding weak and poorly reasoned.
I still think that Herman Cain would have been the
straightest shooter in the match. He had just as much ability in management and
seemingly far less baggage. I doubt there was anything to those womanizing
charges that were brought against him, which is just what they were. Yes they
wore the wonderful clothing of “harassment” as though it were the worst of
crimes, but either way doesn’t anyone find it odd that the DAY he dropped out,
the accusations disappeared, the women stopped seeking anything from him and
also disappeared off the news. Cain actually took failing businesses and
completely turned them around. As I mentioned he was a man of the people and I
don’t think anyone doubted this, even though he was a millionaire. He had the
heard of the normal everyday citizen and he spoke like one of us. His “gaffs”
were no different than anyone of us would have made and I believe we would have
been well served had we gotten him as the nominee.
Of course the GOP machine couldn’t have that. He wasn’t
simply jumping in line and doing what they told him too. They even helped climb
all over him or at least did nothing to help defend him when the charges came.
So now we have Romney who will throw himself on the sword
through supposed dopey mistakes and misstatements. I don’t know how much I
believe these things really are mistakes. Already the Obama machine is starting
to do what everyone said they would, they’re attacking the fact that he put
into place the same program he supposedly wants to get rid of now. Romney would
have had far more credibility about getting rid of it had he said he was wrong
about what he did in Mass., and backed away from it, but instead he continually
went forward with how he had a right to do it there and that it was different
because it was only in one state and not federal. Though this gave him the
legal constitutional right to do it, that doesn’t mean it was the moral or
ethical thing to do, but I believe he thinks it was, and that was the reason he
did it.
Is Romney really intent on being president or is he just
another Progressive GOP pawn destined to the path of McCain.
I wonder sometimes if it is still too late to get someone
like Herman Cain back in the race?
