Destroy the 4th Amendment for National Security and Which Amendment is Next?

It is so wonderful (I'm being facetious) to hear so many commentators on the news even FoxNews saying how willing they are to give up the 4th amendment as long as it will keep us safe. They clearly don't take the words of  Benjamin Franklin "Any people that would give up liberty for a little temporary safety deserves neither liberty nor safety." I guess they think they know better. After all those men lived 200 years ago.

Our wonderful people at FoxNews and other learned historical types seem to think that some how communication being faster gives our enemies an advantage. consider for a moment. If the English had started an attack in Florida in revolutionary days. It could be days to weeks before people in the north knew about it. Consider what a stronghold they would have before anyone could get there. Based on this it would sure make sense to have a standing army on U.S. Territory and even have them in every town and checking on people's homes to make sure the English hadn't already landed secretly.

There is no difference in mindset or danger to our way of life then or now. The only difference is that we now have men willing to give up on the 4th Amendment because it might be safer for us to give up some of our liberty in the name of safety.

This kind of reasoning is nothing more than "The ends justify the means". This is the way progressives think and it is the same excuse they give every time they take a liberty from the people

Let's take the line of reasoning a little further. Doesn't it then make sense to say we need to take all guns because people are killed by them, and at least right now the government isn't trying to take our freedom or throw us in a gulag somewhere. This is another thing the media is saying about the NSA. Since it is clear if no one had guns no one could get shot.

Maybe we should take away the right to free speech after all how many riots have been caused by people speaking things that aren't popular. This would also prevent the kind of speech that could be used in planning an attack so if we take this liberty away and everyone abides by saying only what is supportive of the government then it will be easier to find those who would do us harm.

We can't have freedom of religion or at least not complete freedom of religion we all know what happened during the great crusades. Let's face it religious people are troublemakers. Though to be politically correct we still have to let Muslims say whatever they want because it is after all part of their religion and we couldn't infringe upon them. We want them to like America, but as for Americans what could be considered a more American view of religion forget them; we know that Americans are really the troublemakers.

Another question completely avoided by FoxNews in this whole debate is that the NSA is prohibited from spying on Americans at all. They are only allowed to use their operations outside the United States, but hey it's for our safety so who cares about the law.

Now freedom of the press is yet another thing that could make us safer if we curtailed it because they stir up all kinds of trouble by reporting things the government doesn't like and that just begs for our enemies to feel justified in their attacks. Beside this they also report stuff like the Snowden release of documents. If they hadn't been permitted to report it then there wouldn't be any danger to our national security as FoxNews and other news outlets are telling us has happened because of this. Well then why did they report it? Doesn't this make them as culpable as Snowden? Every News agency that reported what the NSA was doing is just as guilty of the treason they're blaming Snowden with. The hypocrisy of the media in this is amazing.

This would be another example of why the progressives would say that we also need to curtail the first amendment, to stop the media from reporting information "traitors" give them. Consider if the media hadn't reported anything Snowden released then our nations security wouldn't be in jeopardy. They reported it because they knew it was right to report this. They knew that our nation was getting out of hand, but somewhere along the lines it seems they got the word to change their talking points and start declaring that Snowden is a traitor instead of a hero.

Since when do the American people need the NSA or any other government agency spying on everything we do to keep us safe? Do we need to be kept safe from ourselves? It is not American citizens that we need to worry about, it is foreign nations that would see this nation destroyed that we need to worry about.

Enough of the news media justifying the loss of the 4th amendment liberties for the sake of our national security!
